Moga ( Gurjeet sandhu) – The district administration, in collaboration with the Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, has provided subsidized machines to farmers, custom hiring centers (CHCs), cooperative societies, and gram panchayats to manage paddy straw effectively.
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal stated that there is no shortage of machinery in Moga district for paddy straw management. A total of 7,526 eco-friendly machines are available with various farmers, CHCs, cooperative societies, and gram panchayats.
These machines include 894 Happy Seeders, 396 Paddy Straw Choppers, 373 Mulchers, 503 RMB Plows, 963 Zero Till Drills, 568 Super SMS, 60 Rotavator Slasher, 3,345 Super Seeders, 4 Smart Seeders, 153 Rotavators, 92 Balers, 83 Rakes
and 92 Surface Seeders.
To prevent paddy straw burning, the district administration has set up control rooms at each sub-divisional level. These control rooms will immediately inform the concerned field teams about any incidents of paddy straw burning. Farmers can also contact these control rooms to get information about machinery available with societies, gram panchayats, and others.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to farmers to refrain from burning paddy straw and instead adopted eco-friendly practices. Violators will face legal action, including revenue entry, challans, and fines.
