In continuation of its efforts to ensure smooth traffic movement, public safety, and unobstructed roads, the Municipal Corporation Amritsar carried out a special anti-encroachment drive on Court Road and Railway Link Road today.
The campaign was launched under the directions of the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Amritsar, Sh. Bikramjit Singh Shergill, and the Joint Commissioner Dr. Jai Inder Singh. The drive was initiated by the Secretary, Municipal Corporation Amritsar, Sh. Sushant Bhatia, with the objective of removing illegal encroachments from public roads and footpaths.
During the drive, the enforcement teams removed temporary and permanent encroachments that were causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to pedestrians. Goods illegally placed on roads and footpaths by encroachers were confiscated on the spot as per municipal norms.
The operation was led by Inspector Aman Sharma, along with other officials and staff of the Municipal Corporation. The team conducted a thorough inspection of the identified stretches and ensured that public spaces were cleared of obstructions.
Encroachers were strictly warned against re-encroaching on roads and footpaths in the future. The officials emphasized that strict action, including confiscation of goods and penalties, will continue against violators who fail to comply with municipal regulations.
Municipal officials reiterated that such anti-encroachment drives will be carried out regularly across the city to maintain traffic discipline, ensure pedestrian safety, and improve the overall urban environment of Amritsar.
