VB registers case against Patwari, two private persons for obtaining Rs one crore compensation by entering illegal mutation of govt land

Moga ( JUstice News) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a criminal case against Navdeep Singh, Patwari, posted at revenue halka Kishanpura Kalan, Moga district, Dilkush Kumari, a resident of village Adraman, in Moga and Harminder Singh alias Gagan, a resident of village Rasulpur, Moga district for conniving with each other for facilitating an illegal beneficiary to avail compensation of Rs 10,065,724 by preparing false assessment reports pertaining to ownership of government land.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said in this regard a FIR No. 19 dated 12.08.2024 under section 13(1) (a) read with 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and under sections 409, 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC has been registered based on a vigilance enquiry at VB Police Station Ferozepur range.

Giving more details he informed that during the investigation it was found that land owned by
Rehabilitation Department of Punjab Government situated at village Adraman, tehsil Dharamkot, district Moga had been wrongly transferred in the name of above said Dilkhush Kumari and entered the mutation in her name as an owner of this government land. It was also came to light that signatures on mutation of this land was put by Chhinda Patwari, but he was not posted at the concerned revenue halqa of village Redwan, in tehsil Dharmkot and he had died during the year 2021.

He further informed that the during enquiry of this case, then Kanungo and Naib Tehsildar posted in the tehsil Dharmkot had submitted that the said transfer had not been signed by them, from which this transfer found to be suspicious. Out of this land, some of its area was acquired for construction of national highway and compensation amounting to Rs.18,53,661 and Rs.82,12,063 was provided to the above said accused Dilkhush Kumari. In this regard a wrong assessment report was prepared by the above mentioned Patwari.

The spokesperson added that the probe has revealed that the assessment report and A-roll of acquired land was prepared by the above mentioned Patwari Navdeep Singh. It was also found that Navdeep Singh Patwari had colluded with aforementioned accused Harminder Singh alias Gagan in facilitating this illegal compensation to accused Dilkhush Kumari. Pursuant to this vigilance enquiry, this case has been registered against all the above mentioned three accused and role of other concerned officers/employee of the Revenue Department would be investigated during further enquiry into this case, he said.
