ADC reviews projects under Catch the rain program

Additional Deputy Commissioner Anmol Singh Dhaliwal on Monday took stock of the various water harvesting and other conservation measures started under Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch The Rain program in the district.

Presiding over a meeting in Bachat Bhawan,  Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) stated that water conservation is an urgent necessity these days when most parts of the country are witnessing a sharp decline in the water table. He mentioned that the program is for sensitizing all the stakeholders on water conservation through setting up the rain water harvesting and ground water recharge systems, plantation, constructing check dams, cleaning ponds,connecting of ponds with canals, setting of nurseries and etc.

Dhaliwal pointed out that the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is making concerted efforts to save the depletion of groundwater further either by plantation of saplings, increasing green cover, setting up of new rain water harvesting and recharge systems, and other measures.

Additional Deputy Commissioner asserted that water conservation is a social responsibility of every individual so that water can be saved for future generations. He also asked the departments to submit the details of upcoming projects in this direction.
