Ludhiana ( Gurvinder sandhu) A delegation led by MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora met the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in Delhi, on Wednesday. Local MLAs Daljit Singh Grewal (Bhola) and Madan Lal Bagga were among those present on the occasion.

The delegation demanded construction of vehicular and light vehicle under pass in Ludhiana and construction of entry and exit on GT Road Doraha for Jain Teerath – Mani Lakshmi Dham.

Arora drew the Minister’s attention to the pressing issue of traffic congestion on GT Road, Ludhiana. He handed over representations of two MLAs of Ludhiana to the Minister, stating that these representations highlight the dire need for additional VUP/LVUP (Vehicular and Light Vehicle Under Passes) between Samrala Chowk and Kasabad (Jalandhar bypass) along with various other locations in Ludhiana.

Further, Arora recommended to the Minister to construction an elevated road from Sherpur to Jalandhar Bypass to avoid accidents and casualties as happening now. He added that the existing traffic situation in this area has become unbearable for the public, causing significant inconvenience and the loss of precious time. To alleviate this problem, he requested the Minister to consider for the construction of VUP/LVUP at the following locations: Jalandhar Bypass; Subash Nagar to Sunder Nagar Chowk; Kailash Nagar Chowk in Ludhiana; Kakowal Chowk to Shekhewal; Kali Bindra Colony, Pringle Ground; Bal Singh Nagar to Kailash Nagar; and Jassian Road to Guruhar Rai Nagar Crossing.

Arora hoped that the Minister’s prompt attention to these matters will bring immense relief to the people of the region.

Taking another issue, Arora said there is an urgent need for the construction of an entry and exit point on GT Road Doraha for the Jain Teerath -Mani Lakshmi Dham. He said he had received a representation from Shri Om Vallabh Jain Sarvmangal Trust, Ludhiana, highlighting the critical safety concerns faced by thousands of pilgrims visiting the holy site. Currently, pilgrims are compelled to cross either Manji Sahib Gurudwara at 287+50 or the GT Road itself, posing a grave risk to their lives and causing significant traffic congestion on the service road and main GT road.

Adding, Arora said a large number of devotees visit the Mani Lakshmi Dham, therefore, it is necessary to ensure their safety and convenience. He requested the Minister to kindly direct the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough survey of the area and initiate the necessary steps for constructing an entry and exit point at 288-400 on GT Road Doraha, Village Barmalipur, Ludhiana.

Arora said Gadkari listened to them very carefully and ordered his staff for taking care of all requests. Feasibility studies have been marked.
