The district administration today marked the beginning of “I-ASPIRE” a leadership initiative, aimed at motivating and inspiring school students to pursue their dreams when two young sisters met Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney in her office.
Both Gurleen Kaur (10) and Komaldeep Kaur (7) from Dhulewal Village of Macchiwara area were brought from their village in government vehicle to the DC Office.
It is pertinent to mention that both the sisters had met the DC few days back and had shared their dreams. After which the DC decided to motivate, guide and give wings to both the kids in achieving their dreams.
Gurleen, a 5th class student wants to become an IAS officer and Komaldeep, a 3rd class student, dreams of serving the nation by becoming a teacher.
Both sisters had a hearty discussion with the DC about her daily routine and work. Gurleen asked the DC about her working and daily routine and shared her dream of becoming an IAS officer.
The DC assured fulsome support to both the sisters as well as their families in pursuing their dreams.
The DC even offered her chair to both the sisters, who sat on it and later the Deputy Commissioner also gave them appreciation certificates and good wishes for future.
Sawhney stated that this initiative aims to bridge the gap between aspirations and reality by providing students with first hand exposure to their desired career paths. She mentioned that under the initiative, students will be asked about their career ambitions; based on their choice, they will be grouped for visits to relevant professionals’ offices including IAS, IPS, PCS, PPS, doctor, scientist and others. She told the students will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from professionals they dream of emulating by spending a day with them.
