Samkalp Civil Services Institution Organizes a Special Felicitation Ceremony at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Ludhiana

The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, attended a special felicitation ceremony for students who successfully cleared the Civil Services Examination at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan today. He participated in the event at the invitation of Shri Narinder Mittal, Chairman of Samkalp Ludhiana, and Shri Davinder Gupta, President of Samkalp Ludhiana.
On this occasion, meritorious candidates who had qualified for the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination were honoured. Discussions focused on social service, sensitivity, good governance, and the welfare of underprivileged sections of society. The programme commenced with the singing of the national song, Vande Mataram, followed by a welcome address by Shri Narinder Mittal.
Sensitivity is Essential in Administration: Governor
Addressing the gathering, Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized that the greatest need of the present time is to integrate the underprivileged and economically weaker sections into the mainstream of society. Expressing his happiness, he stated that children from poor families are now reaching prestigious positions such as IAS and IPS officers through hard work, dedication, and determination, which is a matter of immense pride for the nation.
He noted that the initiative started by Shri Santosh Taneja in 1986 has become a source of inspiration for thousands of young aspirants. Carrying forward the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Samkalp has been performing remarkable work by providing deserving and needy youth with excellent opportunities in civil services.
Motivating the future officers, the Governor said:
“If a person lacks humanity, sensitivity, compassion, and empathy, holding any high position has little significance for society. The real duty of IAS and IPS officers is not merely to administer but also to understand the problems of the poor, labourers, and daily wage workers and work towards improving their quality of life.”
He further stated that a true administrator is one who understands the hardships faced by people living in slums and underprivileged communities and formulates policies to improve their lives. Plans and schemes that do not reach the last person in society or fail to bring positive change in the lives of the poor serve little purpose.
Over 10,000 Students Have Become Senior Officers Through Samkalp
On this occasion, Shri Santosh Taneja, Founder of Samkalp Civil Services Institution, said that for several decades the organization has been selflessly providing civil services coaching to economically weaker and deserving students. He stated that every year, hundreds of students associated with the institution succeed in various competitive examinations and secure positions in the country’s top services.
He highlighted that approximately 10,000 students have so far cleared civil services examinations through Samkalp and are currently serving the nation in various high-ranking positions.
Shri Narinder Mittal, Chairman of Samkalp Ludhiana, informed that this year, 23 students from Punjab qualified for the Civil Services Examination, out of whom 21 successful candidates were specially honoured with mementoes during the ceremony. He said this achievement proves that with the right guidance and opportunities, young people can achieve any goal.
During the event, successful candidates were presented with commemorative mementoes and extended best wishes for their bright futures. The programme witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities from various fields, administrative officers, social workers, educators, and a large number of eminent citizens. The entire event reflected the spirit of social service, education, and nation-building.
During the ceremony, Shri Sanjeev Kalra, Shri Jagdish Singhal, and Dr. Karunesh Gupta also shared their views and highly appreciated Samkalp’s contribution towards social service, education, and nation-building.
The speakers emphasized the crucial role of education and good governance in strengthening the nation’s future. They urged young people to make hard work, integrity, and a spirit of social service an integral part of their lives.
They also stated that aspirants entering civil services should not limit themselves to becoming officers but should work for public welfare by understanding the challenges faced by weaker sections of society.
At the conclusion of the programme, Shri Rajat Sood, Vice President of Samkalp Ludhiana, expressed gratitude and thanked the Hon’ble Governor and all the guests for making the event a success.
