Walkathon Organised To Celebrate 90 Years of Akashvani

A grand Walkathon was organised on Saturday morning as part of the celebrations marking 90 glorious years of Akashvani. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 200 participants comprising officers and staff members of Akashvani Chandigarh, Doordarshan, Press Information Bureau (PIB), CCW, along with their family members.

The Walkathon was flagged off by Shri Sumeet Goyal, DDG and Cluster Head, Akashvani and Doordarshan, amidst great enthusiasm and festive spirit. The event reflected the spirit of unity, fitness, and collective celebration among various media and communication organisations.

Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Shri Vikas Bhatt, Director (Engineering); Smt Poonam Amrit Singh, Programme Head, Akashvani; Shri Ashwani Kumar, News Head AIR; Ms Akankasha Saxena, News Head DDK; Shri Pritam Singh, Director, PIB Chandigarh; Smt Meenakshi Kalia, ADP, Akashvani; and Shri Ashwani Kumar, Programme Executive. A large number of senior officials from sister organisations, staff members, and their wards also participated wholeheartedly in the event.

The Walkathon received an overwhelming response from the public as well. Many regular morning walkers and old listeners of Akashvani appreciated the initiative and fondly shared their memorable association and experiences with Akashvani over the decades.

The event successfully conveyed the enduring bond between Akashvani and the public while promoting the message of health, harmony, and togetherness.
