After AAP’s 7 Rajya Sabha MPs join BJP, Kejriwal should quit politics and sit at home: Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala

Punjab BJP spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala said that the joining of seven Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MPs into the BJP, through a democratic process and in reflection of the voice and sentiments of Punjab, clearly shows that Arvind Kejriwal’s politics of lies is nearing its end.
Prof. Khiala said Kejriwal should now quit politics and sit at home, otherwise the people of Punjab will teach AAP an unforgettable lesson in the 2027 Assembly elections.
He said AAP, which entered politics in the name of “change,” has now become a symbol of power-hunger, dictatorship and opportunism. The party that promised to end VIP culture is today promoting it the most. Public money is being wasted on limitless advertisements for selfish political interests.
Taking a sharp dig, Prof. Khiala said, “They commit liquor scams and raise slogans of revolution.” Punjab, he said, is no longer “Rangla Punjab” but “Rulda Punjab.” Advertisements have replaced development, cosmetic repainting has replaced revolution, and compromises have replaced honesty. Is this the “new Punjab” they promised?
Prof. Khiala said AAP’s founders and key leaders are leaving the party one after another. He said if AAP calls leaders like Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Swati Maliwal and Vikram Sahney “traitors” for joining the BJP, then what certificate will AAP give to those who came into AAP from other parties?
He asked: If these leaders had no standing even at the neighbourhood level, why were they imposed as Rajya Sabha MPs? Was this not a betrayal of Punjab?
Prof. Khiala said those accusing the BJP of coercion should first explain why Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal was allegedly assaulted at Kejriwal’s residence by his PA, insulting women’s dignity. Calling a respected cricketer like Harbhajan Singh “saleable,” he said, is an insult not only to him but to the entire sports fraternity.
He said Punjab today is facing rampant robberies, extortions, gangsterism and murders. Industrialists and traders are frustrated. Grenade attacks on police stations and the Lawrence Bishnoi interview from CIA Kharar are direct evidence of the collapse of law and order. Those who once said, “If you are afraid, leave politics and open a poultry farm,” are today addressing people from behind bulletproof glass.
Prof. Khiala said Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal are experts only in theatrics. Everyone knows who is running the CMO and from where and why OSDs of ministers have been appointed. Those who call ED raids political pressure must also explain under which category they place vigilance raids.
He said Punjab is buried under a debt of over Rs 4.5 lakh crore, yet there is no development. Central schemes are being renamed and marketed as state schemes. Even utilization certificates for funds sent by the Centre are not being submitted.
He said that in the name of a “health revolution,” only mohalla clinics have been opened. “If education and health revolutions could come merely by changing colours, then the chameleon would be the greatest revolutionary,” he remarked. The promise of 16 medical colleges is nowhere visible, not even through a telescope. The promise of Rs 1,000 per month to women also remains unfulfilled.
Attacking the government on corruption, he said the sand and gravel mafia is unchecked. Leaders such as Vijay Singla, Amit Rattan and Fauja Singh Sarari have faced jail. The clean chit given to Vijay Singla on June 28, 2025 has fully exposed AAP’s claim of being an honest government.
On sacrilege cases, Prof. Khiala said the government’s intent is under serious question. Those who promised justice within 24 hours must explain why they agreed in the Supreme Court on April 29, 2025 to halt the trial. In 11 years, there were 597 sacrilege incidents, conviction in only 40 cases, acquittal in 99, 131 cases pending in courts and 422 closed—these figures expose AAP’s failure.
Referring to Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, Prof. Khiala said the 2011 movement at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan was meant to demand the Jan Lokpal Bill and create awareness against corruption. But on November 26, 2012, Kejriwal used that movement for political gain and formed AAP. Anna Hazare himself had said that Kejriwal damaged the anti-corruption movement by entering electoral politics.
He said the party that once raised slogans of brotherhood, radical honesty, patriotism and humanity is today in the hands of corrupt, compromised and dictatorial people. That is why Punjab is saying today: “They promised Rangla Punjab, but made it Kangla Punjab.”
