Case registered against plywood factory for illegal use of agriculture-grade urea

On the directions of Punjab Government and Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, a team from the Local agriculture department along with Dakha Police Station conducted a surprise checking at the plywood factory Arya Industries, Village Ranke and  recovered agriculture-grade urea which is provided by the Government of India to farmers at subsidized rates.
Chief Agriculture Officer Gurdeep Singh stated that during the checking, the factory was using this urea illegally for manufacturing plywood, as agriculture-grade urea can only be used by farmers for agricultural purposes, on which the government provides heavy subsidy. He added that by illegally using agriculture-grade urea, the plywood factory was availing the benefit of subsidy, thereby causing financial loss to the government and the farming community.
Due to this, Arshdeep Singh, Fertilizer Inspector, Hambra, sealed the recovered urea on the spot and a case registered at Police Station Dakha against the factory.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain issued strict instructions to industries to operate within the ambit of the law to prevent black marketing and illegal use of agriculture-grade urea. He made it clear that agriculture-grade urea is found being used illegally in the future, strict action will be taken under the law.
