Officials of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), Regional Office Amritsar, conducted surprise inspections of shops today to verify compliance with the ban on the sale, purchase, and use of banned China Dor.
The inspection drive was carried out by Er. Lakhwinder Kumar, SDO and Er. Yuguaadveer Singh, JEE, during which several shops dealing in kite-related material were inspected across the city.
During the inspection, shopkeepers were sensitised about the statutory prohibition on China Dor and informed about the serious environmental hazards and public safety risks associated with its use. They were strictly directed not to sell, purchase, or store banned China Dor under any circumstances.
The shopkeepers were also instructed to prominently display awareness banners regarding the ban on China Dor in their respective shops and to ensure strict compliance with the directions issued by the competent authority.
The PPCB reiterated that strict action will be taken against violators as per applicable environmental laws and appealed to the public to cooperate in safeguarding the environment and public safety.
