The district administration continued to its sustained and coordinated efforts to rejuvenate and control pollution in Buddha Dariya. These initiatives operate under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal.
The close inter-departmental collaboration remains a cornerstone of the project, involving the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, Punjab Water Supply & Sewerage Board, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Drainage Department, and other relevant agencies. Together, they are ensuring regular cleaning, maintenance, and vigilant monitoring of Buddha Dariya and its connected drainage systems.
On-going activities include thorough monitoring of drainage networks, sewer lines, Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), and Intermediate Pumping Stations (IPS). Any breaches, blockages, or operational issues are addressed promptly through joint action, maintaining efficient system performance.
Field inspections occur frequently, supported by geo-tagged photographs from various sites to document progress and confirm on-ground adherence. The administration diligently executes key directives from the Deputy Commissioner’s review meetings, with rigorous follow-up and seamless coordination across departments.
Demarcation of Buddha Dariya receives focused attention, as the DC Office reviews and expedites reports for timely submission to the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana.
This collaborative endeavour draws on the expertise of dedicated officers from all involved departments, including Executive Engineer Balraj Singh from the Punjab Water Supply & Sewerage Board, Executive Engineer Jaspal Singh from the Punjab Pollution Control Board, and Superintendent Engineer Ekjot Singh from the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. Daily reviews highlight encouraging advancements, with nearly all major inflow points addressed and water quality parameters showing marked improvement through strict enforcement and scientific monitoring.
These persistent efforts underscore the administration’s commitment to restoring Buddha Dariya’s ecological health.
