Under the guidelines of Hon’ble Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and the directions of DGP Punjab Shri Gaurav Yadav, Commissionerate Police Amritsar has delivered strong and measurable results in 2025 through sustained action against drug trafficking, organised crime, illegal arms, gambling and other offences.
Expressing these words, Police Commissioner Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar while giving information during the press conference said that During the year, the police registered 1,545 NDPS cases and arrested 2,772 persons, leading to the recovery of 277.959 kg heroin, 37.146 kg opium, 7.515 kg methamphetamine (ICE), 9 kg ganja, 16.075 kg charas, 325.577 kg narcotic powder and 25 kg poppy husk, along with 1,550 injections and 2,16,770 capsules/tablets. Drug money worth ₹3.14 crore was seized and 133 vehicles used in drug trafficking were recovered.
Under the Arms Act, 88 cases were registered and 195 accused were arrested, with recovery of 244 pistols, 10 revolvers, 2 rifles, 241 magazines and 440 cartridges. Hawala money amounting to ₹18.75 lakh was also seized.
In snatching cases, 160 cases were registered, 90% were traced, 280 accused were arrested and stolen property worth ₹76.31 lakh was recovered. Robbery cases recorded 100% tracing, with 33 accused arrested and 94% recovery of stolen property. In theft cases, 229 cases were registered, leading to 173 arrests and recovery of stolen property worth ₹86.49 lakh. For burglary, 92 cases were registered, 64% traced, and stolen property worth ₹63.50 lakh was recovered.Preventive policing remained a priority, with 1,706 preventive cases, 2,978 persons arrested and 2,986 persons bound down under BNSS provisions. Police also proceeded against 368 proclaimed offenders and absconders under the NDPS Act and other laws.
Traffic enforcement resulted in 38,766 challans, 9,142 vehicles impounded, and fines amounting to ₹4.25 crore. Additionally, focused action against China Dor activities led to 24 cases, 28 arrests and recovery of 4,276 items.
In a strong deterrent action against the drug nexus, Commissionerate Police Amritsar, with the support of the District Administration, also demolished 18 illegal properties of drug smugglers that had been constructed using proceeds of drug money. This action sends a clear message that crime will not only be punished, but its economic foundations will also be dismantled.These results underline Commissionerate Police Amritsar’s firm commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting citizens and ensuring strict enforcement of the law across all fronts.
