Ludhiana leads Punjab in paddy lifting in last 72-Hour norm.DG Ludhiana

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Monday stated that Ludhiana district has taken the lead in Punjab by surpassing the 72-hour paddy lifting norms, with Ludhiana East achieving 108.12% and Ludhiana West reaching 105.67%.
During a review of paddy procurement operations, the DC highlighted the district’s robust progress. To date, a total of 10, 06,652 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in Ludhiana’s grain markets, of which 9, 83,432 MT has been procured by various agencies. He emphasized that the administration is sparing no effort to facilitate a smooth and efficient procurement process, underscoring the Punjab government’s commitment to supporting farmers at every step.

Jain revealed that payments totalling Rs 2,173 crores have already been credited to farmers for the procured paddy, reflecting the state’s focus on timely financial disbursements. “The Punjab government is actively monitoring arrangements to guarantee seamless operations in the mandis, prompt payments, and adherence to all guidelines,” Jain stated. To further streamline the process, rapid lifting of paddy is underway across all grain markets, with directives issued to accelerate activities in the coming days.
The Deputy Commissioner issued a stern warning that any delays in procurement will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against negligent parties. He instructed teams to conduct lifting operations in an organized, efficient manner; ensuring farmers face no undue hardships. Jain also reaffirmed the government’s pledge to procure every single grain from farmers’ harvests, reinforcing the district’s dedication to hassle-free implementation.

Inauguration of four-days Advance Imaging Workshop on “Recent Advancements in Bioimaging” at NIPER Mohali Mohali, 18th August 2026: The Department of Medical Devices at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, inaugurated a four-days Advance Imaging Workshop on “Recent Advancements in Bioimaging” from 18th to 21st August 2026. The workshop focuses on recent developments in widefield and confocal microscopy, with technical sessions, demonstrations and hands-on training for participants. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dulal Panda, Director NIPER Mohali, at 09:30 AM in the presence of associate Dean, Registrar, faculty members, invited experts, and participants. During his welcome address, Prof. Dulal Panda, highlighted the evolution of microscopy, particularly the advancement of confocal microscopy into a powerful tool for modern biological and biomedical research. He also emphasized the transformative role of fluorescence microscopy and the discovery of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), noting how advances in imaging have enabled researchers to visualize cellular and molecular processes with greater clarity and precision. Following the Director’s address, Prof. Ipsita Roy, Associate Dean, NIPER Mohali, emphasized the importance of technological advancements and encouraged students to actively interact with experts and gain meaningful experience through hands-on learning. Workshop Organizer Dr. Ajay Kumar, along with Co-Organizers Prof. Tarun Sharma and Dr. Dipankar Das, Department of Medical Devices, encouraged the participants to ask challenging questions, explore new possibilities, and think beyond conventional approaches. The workshop features sessions covering the fundamentals and latest developments in widefield and confocal microscopy, along with system demonstrations and hands-on training in multidimensional imaging. The final two days are dedicated to individual laboratory sample acquisition and analysis using confocal microscopy, providing participants with an opportunity to apply the concepts and techniques learned during the workshop to their own research samples. The workshop aims to strengthen participants’ understanding of advanced bioimaging technologies and equip them with practical skills for applying these techniques in pharmaceutical, biomedical and life-science research.
