Amritsar ( Justice news)
BJP Punjab spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala strongly condemned the incident in Jaipur where Gurpreet Kaur, an Amritdhari Sikh girl, was barred from entering the examination hall for the Rajasthan High Court Civil Judge recruitment exam due to wearing her Kirpan. He termed the incident a violation of the Indian Constitution and Sikh religious rights and demanded immediate action against the responsible officials.
Prof. Khiala has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging his personal intervention to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future. He stated that while the entire Sikh community is preparing to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, it is deeply concerning that in various parts of the country, Sikh children are being denied entry to examination centers for wearing their religious symbols – Kirpan and Kara. Such actions are fueling widespread anger among Sikhs.
Prof. Khiala emphasized that Articles 25 and 29 of the Indian Constitution explicitly guarantee Sikhs the right to wear their religious symbols. He asserted that discrimination against Sikhs in examination centers, airports, and other government or private institutions will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He warned that such incidents could be part of a conspiracy by elements attempting to weaken the trust between Sikhs and the BJP, and to push Sikhs to the margins. He noted that this incident in Rajasthan not only questions the image of the BJP government there but also serves as a tool to tarnish the party’s reputation.
Key Demands:
Immediate identification and strict action against the officials responsible for the incident in Rajasthan.
The Central Government must issue an urgent notification directing all states and examination boards to ensure full respect for the constitutional rights of Sikhs.
Full respect for Sikh religious symbols must be guaranteed at all examination centers, airports, and during security checks across the country.
Prof. Khiala reaffirmed that BJP governments are committed to protecting the sentiments and constitutional rights of Sikhs.
“Tampering with the religious identity of Sikhs will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Central Government must intervene immediately to ensure justice.” – Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala
