Civil Hospital lifts get operational after 12 years; Other development works on war footing: MP Arora  

Ludhiana ( Gurvinder sidhu) Two old lifts at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana have been fixed and are operational after 12 years with efforts of MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora.

The patients, their attendants and the hospital staff were facing many difficulties due to non-functioning of the lifts in the last 12 years.

In a statement here today, Arora remarked, “The functioning of lifts in the hospital premises is an essential element.” He hoped that these lifts would prove useful to the patients, their attendants, and medical staff of the hospital.

Arora also got a report which provides a comprehensive overview of the ongoing works at the local Civil Hospital. The report details the progress made on various aspects of the project and outlines upcoming milestones.

According to the report, site assessment and planning is complete. Visual and topographical survey is also completed. Meetings with stakeholders have identified exact requirements. A detailed presentation summarizing the plans has been shared with all concerned parties.

All necessary civil repairs have been completed, except in the Dental, Lab, and TB Department Building.

Rodent control measures have been implemented successfully by a professional company with ongoing monitoring to ensure a rodent-free environment.

Arora said the report further states that new sewerage system installation is underway with all materials on site and expected completion in coming days. Eighty per cent work of line laying has been done.

Regarding ongoing internal infrastructure upgrades, Arora said internal road relaying is in progress with Kabir Infra Pvt Ltd as the contractor. Completion is anticipated within the month of September this year. The work has been assigned to a government contractor, which is still to start. A survey in this regard is completed and an estimate signed by SMO.

Tiling work up to 4-5 feet on the walls is progressing well and expected to be finished by August-end. This will enhance hygiene and minimize maintenance requirements. So far 30 per cent work is completed.

External painting of the entire hospital is ongoing with all materials procured. The work in OPD and Emergency blocks is completed. The entire work is targeted to be completed by the end of this month. So far 70 percent work is completed. Dental, TB Department and Lab Building are left. Some repairs are also required.

Boundary wall is also being made in such a way that there are no thefts and wherever is required civil work is being done to brighten it on one level.

Internal painting will commence after tiling work is finished. It is estimated that the work will be completed by September-end. So far 15 per cent work is completed. Material has already arrived.

Replacement and addition of signage are planned for completion by August- end.

Arora said the whole of the hospital premises will have ceramic tiles till the height of 4 ft to 5 ft. This tile work will help in maintaining hygienic conditions and will be maintenance free.

Further, Arora said the report further says that doors and windows are scheduled for installation within the next 30 days. 75 per cent work is already completed.

Waterproofing of all buildings is expected to be completed by August -end. Also, horticulture work will commence in the first week of September. Fire safety assessment is underway, with identified gaps scheduled for rectification alongside other works. Acquisition of essential medical equipment will begin soon. 30 per cent work of the boundary wall is completed.

Also, all additional medical equipment required will be provided in due course.

Meanwhile, Arora said he is making efforts to make Civil Hospital, Ludhiana at par with any private hospital. He added development works in the hospital premises are going on with the funds made available under CSR and MPLAD Fund.
