Ludhiana ( Gurvinder sidhu)
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Saturday directed the heads of departments to expedite the voter registration process for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections.
Sawhney held a meeting with SDMs, Tehsildars, heads of education department, Women and Child Development, Police, Health, Mandi Board, Social Security, Agriculture, and others and reviewed the voter enrollment done so far. She asked the officials/employees of the departments to reach all villages/wards to ensure that no eligible voter is left out from getting their vote registered. She also emphasized the need to raise awareness among people about voter registration.
For Women voters, it is optional and not mandatory to paste their photos on voter enrollment forms. Apart from this, the voters who have made their votes in the year 2011, will now have to submit the voter registration forms again. The voters who have registered themselves after October 21, 2023 as per Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee election schedule, do not need to apply again.
Sawhney also highlighted that the registration forms are available on the district administration’s website Ludhiana.nic.in and encouraged people to download and submit them to their BLOs/patwaris within the given timeframe.
The voter registration process will continue until September 16. Voter lists will be prepared and printed from September 17 to October 8. The preliminary e-roll will be published on October 9, and claims and objections will be accepted until October 29. The final voters’ list is scheduled for publication on November 26.
