Member of Legislative Assembly from Ludhiana Central, Ashok Parashar Pappi, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, and MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi discussed the relocation of 31 slum-dwelling families with railway officials and representative of families.
The railway officials informed that 31 permanent encroachments are located on the railway land where they are working on a project to double the railway track from Ludhiana to Kila Raipur (17.174 km) which includes 25-KV high rise railway electrification and signalling and telecommunication works.
MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi assured that the district administration and Municipal Corporation will find out the way to rehabilitate the families.
On the request of the MLA, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney asked SDM Vikas Hira, MC, and railway officials to take representatives of the families to the site and submit a report if any other solution could be found to avoid relocating the families from there. Sawhney also assured full support to the families in facilitating rehabilitation in the best manner possible if no viable solution is found.
