To promote agro-diversification and mechanization and increase the income of farmers, the department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare department is providing state-of-the-art machinery to the farmers at subsidized rates under the Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney stated that the department has invited applications for availing subsidy on various agriculture machineries for which the farmers can apply by August 13, 2024. She mentioned that the farmers of the state can apply online at the department’s portal agrimachinerypb.com by August 13 to avail maximum benefit of this scheme. She added that the subsidy is being provided on the purchase of Paddy Transplanters, D.S.R. Drill, Potato Planter (Automatic/ Semi-Automatic), Tractor Operated Boom Sprayer, PTO Operated Bund Former, Oil Mill, Mini Processing Plant and Nursery Seeder.
The Deputy Commissioner pointed out that by adopting mechanization, farmers can increase their income and it will also go a long way to promote water saving techniques, crop diversification and others.
