Young Professionals Roundtable on “Smart & Sustainable Agriculture for Viksit Bharat” Successfully Organised at Panjab University

MY Bharat, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with NSS Unit, Panjab University, successfully organised the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026 – Young Professionals Roundtable on the theme “Smart & Sustainable Agriculture for Viksit Bharat” at Rajiv Gandhi College Bhawan, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The programme was conducted as part of the nationwide VBYLD initiative to engage young professionals and students in policy-oriented discussions and generate actionable recommendations for realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the welcome address and an overview of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue. The event was graced by Dr. Sukhjinder Rishi, Director, Youth Welfare, Panjab University, as the Chief Guest. The occasion was further honoured by the presence of Ms. Rashmeet Kaur, State Director, MY Bharat Punjab, Sh. Shivdhan Sharma, UT Director, MY Bharat Chandigarh, and Sh. Akarsh Dixit, State Director, MY Bharat Haryana, who attended as Special Guests.

The technical session featured Dr. Sanjeev Chauhan and Mr. LivArpit Sandhu as the Panel Experts, while Sh. Pancham Cajla effectively moderated the roundtable discussion. The experts deliberated on the importance of integrating technology with sustainable agricultural practices, promoting climate-resilient farming, encouraging youth-led agri-entrepreneurship, strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), enhancing soil health, adopting natural farming methods, and leveraging digital innovations to improve agricultural productivity and ensure food security. The discussions also highlighted the importance of youth participation in shaping the future of Indian agriculture.

Around 200 participants, including MY Bharat volunteers, NSS Volunteers, young professionals and youth leaders, actively participated in the programme. The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the audience, who shared innovative ideas and recommendations on building a smart, sustainable and technology-driven agricultural ecosystem. The event concluded with an engaging open-floor discussion, allowing participants to interact directly with the panel experts and contribute their perspectives towards policy recommendations.

The programme was successfully organised under the leadership of Sh. Vinay Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Chandigarh, with the dedicated support of Dr. Bharat Bajaj, NSS Programme Officer, Panjab University, and Dr. Kiran Bandra, NSS Programme Officer, Panjab University. Their coordinated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event and enthusiastic participation from youth.

The Young Professionals Roundtable concluded with a collective resolve to empower youth as key stakeholders in building a sustainable agricultural future for the nation. The valuable suggestions and recommendations emerging from the deliberations will contribute to the broader objectives of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue and support India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
