NSO Field Operations Division to Undertake Various Statistical Surveys Across Districts in September 2026

The Field Operations Division of National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India is engaged in collecting information from households and establishments since 1950, which is used for planning and policy formulation both at National and State level.

Information is collected by trained officers of the NSO using hand-held digital devices (tablets) equipped with e-Sigma software and secure web portals designated for enterprise surveys. All information collected in these surveys is kept strictly confidential. The identity of households and enterprises participating in the survey is not disclosed in any report or published data. The data is used only for statistical purposes.

The details of surveys undertaken by NSO (FOD) during the month of September 2026 in various Districts are attached as Annexure-I. Further, for Wholesale Price Index, Purchaser Price Index, Index of Industrial Production and Annual Survey of Incorporated Service Sector Enterprises, selected units have been sent notices and are contacted by NSO (FOD) officials for data collection from time to time. Similarly, for Rapid Survey of Functional Cooperatives (April-September 2026), selected cooperatives are approached by NSO (FOD) officials for collecting the data.

The Government, therefore, requests all the citizens/enterprises mentioned in Annexure-I to kindly extend full cooperation to the survey officials and spare valuable time to provide correct and complete information. Participation from all the citizens helps in better planning and development for the benefit of the nation.
