In a bid to give a major facelift to various focal point areas in the city known as the industrial hub of the state, Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power Sanjeev Arora launched multiple development projects worth around Rs 52 crore during an event held at CICU complex in Focal Point on Saturday.
Of the total 52 crore, Rs 16 crore would be spent on upgrading quality road infrastructure, Rs 21 crore on developing parks/green belts, 6 crore on upgrading water supply/sewer system and Rs 9 crore on installing street lights in different Focal Point areas.
The large gathering of industrialists led by President CICU Upkar Singh Ahuja, JS Bhogal, Rahul Ahuja, Honey Sethi among others thanked the Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora for the new Industrial Policy and Halwara Airport.
Appreciating the Cabinet Minister Arora for launching multiple projects worth Rs 52 crore, the industrialists stated that these projects will certainly help the industry to grow and foster. The industrialists further applauded the Cabinet Minister Arora for his regular and consistent efforts to facilitate the industry.
During the event, feedback was also taken from the industrialists and the Cabinet Minister Arora assured that every step is being taken to facilitate the industry at large. Major projects are being taken up to give a facelift to the Focal Points and other industrial areas in the state.
Cabinet Minister Arora stated that the projects to upgrade road infrastructure will improve connectivity and transportation, while installation of street lights will help to improve security. Stating that a large number of parks/green belts are also being redeveloped by the civic body, the Cabinet Minister appealed to the industrialists to adopt parks/green belts in their surrounding areas.
Highlighting the broader vision of the state government led by National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora further stated that Rs 1300 crore projects are being taken up for upgrading road infrastructure across the state. These projects would be completed by the end of May.
He further stated that various initiatives are also being taken to improve solid waste management across the state. Stating that there is no shortage of power in the state, the Cabinet Minister Arora stated that power infrastructure in the state has also been upgraded at large recently and more projects are being taken up to streamline the power supply system.
Accompanied by Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta, Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar among others, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora stated that during his tenure as Rajya Sabha MP too, they had taken up projects worth Rs 42 crore for constructing concrete roads in different Focal Point areas. The remaining roads would now be reconstructed under the projects launched on Saturday.
