Under the aegis of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region, Shri Ashok Kumar Saroha, the Income Tax Department solemnly commemorated Shaheedi Diwas at the NITTTR Auditorium, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
On the occasion, the Department honoured and felicitated the families of martyrs from the region who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the Nation. The valour and sacrifice of Major Anuj Rajput, Captain Satish Chandra Sehgal, Captain Ramesh Chander Sharma, Lance Naik Harchand, and Lance Naik Vikram Singh were remembered with deep respect and gratitude.
The programme was graced by senior officers of the Department, including the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Panchkula & Shimla, Ms. Vidisha Kalra, I.R.S.; the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Ms. Vatsalaa Jha, I.R.S.; the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Amritsar, Dr. G. S. Phani Kishore, I.R.S.; and the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (OSD), Ms. Komal Jogpal, I.R.S.
A specially designed commemorative trophy was presented to the families of the martyrs as a token of the Department’s enduring respect and gratitude.
The cultural segment featured performances by students and teachers of Satluj Public School, including group and solo patriotic renditions. The performing arts group, Manthan, Chandigarh, presented a theatrical performance on Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters, which deeply resonated with the audience.
Earlier in the day, blood donation camps were organised at Aayakar Bhavan, Chandigarh and Panchkula in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh, the National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFAA), led by Shri Rakesh Kumar Sangar, and the Shree Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust.
The programme was compered by Ms. Poonam Rai, I.R.S., and witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and staff, making it a dignified and memorable tribute to the spirit of sacrifice and patriotism.
