Keeping in view the sacred festival of Mahashivratri, Police District Khanna has made comprehensive security arrangements around all religious places. As every year, lakhs of devotees are expected to visit temples to offer their prayers. In anticipation of the large turnout, the police administration has made special preparations in advance. Along with security, proper traffic management arrangements have also been ensured so that devotees do not face any inconvenience.
Under Police District Khanna, two ancient and historic Shiva temples hold special significance. One is the ancient Shri Mukteshwar Mahadev Shiv Mandir at Chehlan near Samrala, and the other is the ancient Shiv Mandir located at Payal. On the occasion of Mahashivratri, a large number of devotees from across the country and abroad visit these religious places. Considering the heavy footfall, strict security arrangements have been put in place at these locations.
On this occasion, SSP of Police District Khanna, Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia, paid obeisance at the ancient Shri Mukteshwar Mahadev Shiv Mandir at Chehlan, Samrala, on Saturday. He also participated in the havan and offered prayers. He thoroughly reviewed the security arrangements in and around the temple and issued necessary directions to the police personnel deployed on duty. His presence not only boosted the morale of the police force but also instilled confidence among devotees that the administration is fully alert and committed to ensuring their safety.
SSP Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia stated that a large number of devotees are expected to visit the Chehlan temple at Samrala on the occasion of Mahashivratri. To manage the large gathering and prevent any untoward incident, approximately 200 police personnel have been deployed at the temple. In addition, CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the temple premises and at key points to maintain strict surveillance.
He further stated that the safety of devotees is the top priority of the police, and all possible measures are being taken to ensure a peaceful celebration of the festival. Special teams have also been deployed for smooth traffic management so that people visiting the temple do not face any difficulty. He also ensured that adequate security and facilities are available for women, elderly persons, and children.
