Ludhiana Rural Police crack firing outside Lakhe Wale jewellery shop case

The Ludhiana Rural police on Sunday arrested the main accused involved in the firing incident on Lakhe Wale Jewellers showroom near Rani Jhansi Chowk, Jagraon (Ludhiana).
The arrest has been made after an encounter wherein the accused received gunshot injuries on his leg.

The accused has been identified as Krishan @ Kaki s/o Raju r/o Malsia wali Basti Zira, District Ferozepur. The police have also recovered one .32 bore pistol, two live cartridges and a bike.
Divulging further details, SSP Ludhiana Rural Dr Ankur Gupta informed that since the incident on March 5, the police teams were following the accused was apprehended after intelligence based operation jointly by CIA Ludhiana rural and AGTF. He informed that his location was tracked near Jagraon- Sidhwan Bet Road.
Gupta added that the police party chased him and instead of surrendering, the accused fired 3 gunshots at police party out of which 1 hit the police vehicle. Fortunately no police injury is there. Acting in self defense, the police party retaliated and the accused got a short injury in his right leg and apprehended. He has been taken to a local civil hospital where his condition is stable.
A FIR under Sections 125, 61 BNS and 25 of Arms Act has been registered in City Jagraon Police station.

SSP Ankur Gupta reiterated that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to ensure safe environment to the people and anti-social elements will face severe action.
