Ludhiana( Gurvinder sidhu)
A popular geography teacher of yesteryears, Professor Dr L D Saini who passed away recently has been given rich tributes by alumni and teachers alike of the SCD Govt College Ludhiana. Prof Saini was head of geography department for many a year in the college till 1998. He was closely associated with Ludhiana district’s environmental board too by the administration then. He was elevated as principal of Govt College Fazila thereafter.
Prominent alumni who condoled his death are Prof Vijay Asdhir, Prof Ashok Kapoor, Prof Setia, Mohinder Singh Grewal, K B Singh and Brij Bhushan Goyal Org Sec of Alumni Association besides many others. Prof Kapoor said that his sense of understanding problems quickly and humility endeared him to all. Prof Dr Sachrinder Singh, a professor of Rohtak University and Principal (Retd.) Dr Dharam Sandhu Sandhu also condoled his death. They termed him a teacher of a special genre class of geography fraternity in Punjab.
