Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Amarjit Bains on Thursday urged residents to donate voluntarily and generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day fund.Bains explained that the funds raised during Armed Forces Flag Day are utilized to support the welfare of armed forces personnel. He highlighted that commemorating Armed Forces Flag Day and collecting funds through the distribution of flags is a noble way to express our gratitude and appreciation for both current and veteran military personnel, as well as to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.
The ADC (G) emphasized that the significance of Armed Forces Flag Day is heightened by the moral responsibility of citizens to care for the families and dependents of armed forces personnel. He noted that every soldier who joins the armed forces does so with a firm commitment to selfless service to the nation. Additionally, he mentioned that donations made to this noble cause are exempt from Income Tax.
Bains revealed that approximately 500,000 Flag Day stickers have been distributed by the District Sainik Welfare Office among various government departments, schools, colleges, and industries.
