Punjab Government is committed to restore pristine glory of sports – Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan

Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Saturday stated that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government is committed to restore the pristine glory of sports and concerted efforts are already underway in this direction.

After inaugurating the CISCE Regional Athletics Tournament at Guru Nanak Stadium by Guru Nanak Public School, the Speaker mentioned that the AAP government is organizing Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan for the past two years and these games have been producing several champions who will bring laurels for the country in the sports.

Sandhwan pointed out that Punjabi youth have a lot of talent but they need a platform and such sports events will give a chance to the young boys and girls to exhibit their talent. He highlighted that Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan has brought out the hidden talent of Punjabi youth  and they are encouraged to take up sports as a career. He also reiterated that every step will be taken to ensure a complete makeover of the sports’ facilities including sports infrastructure, grounds and equipment in the Punjab.

The Speaker also thanked the management of Guru Nanak Public School for the CISCE Regional Athletics Tournament.
Prominent among the present on the occasion included SDM Deepak Bhatia, Guru Nanak Public Chairman Jasbir Singh and others.

Inauguration of four-days Advance Imaging Workshop on “Recent Advancements in Bioimaging” at NIPER Mohali Mohali, 18th August 2026: The Department of Medical Devices at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, inaugurated a four-days Advance Imaging Workshop on “Recent Advancements in Bioimaging” from 18th to 21st August 2026. The workshop focuses on recent developments in widefield and confocal microscopy, with technical sessions, demonstrations and hands-on training for participants. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dulal Panda, Director NIPER Mohali, at 09:30 AM in the presence of associate Dean, Registrar, faculty members, invited experts, and participants. During his welcome address, Prof. Dulal Panda, highlighted the evolution of microscopy, particularly the advancement of confocal microscopy into a powerful tool for modern biological and biomedical research. He also emphasized the transformative role of fluorescence microscopy and the discovery of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), noting how advances in imaging have enabled researchers to visualize cellular and molecular processes with greater clarity and precision. Following the Director’s address, Prof. Ipsita Roy, Associate Dean, NIPER Mohali, emphasized the importance of technological advancements and encouraged students to actively interact with experts and gain meaningful experience through hands-on learning. Workshop Organizer Dr. Ajay Kumar, along with Co-Organizers Prof. Tarun Sharma and Dr. Dipankar Das, Department of Medical Devices, encouraged the participants to ask challenging questions, explore new possibilities, and think beyond conventional approaches. The workshop features sessions covering the fundamentals and latest developments in widefield and confocal microscopy, along with system demonstrations and hands-on training in multidimensional imaging. The final two days are dedicated to individual laboratory sample acquisition and analysis using confocal microscopy, providing participants with an opportunity to apply the concepts and techniques learned during the workshop to their own research samples. The workshop aims to strengthen participants’ understanding of advanced bioimaging technologies and equip them with practical skills for applying these techniques in pharmaceutical, biomedical and life-science research.
