Moga Prepared for Upcoming Panchayat Elections

Moga, ( Manjeet singh) – Today was the last day for filing nominations for the upcoming Panchayat elections. Election Observer and Director of Finance and Accounts , Muhammad Tayyab, visited Moga district to oversee the issuance of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) and the nomination process.

Present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer, Vishesh Sarangal, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Additional District Election Officer, Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal, and other election officials.

Muhammad Tayyab personally reviewed the NOC issuance process and scrutinized the records at Block Development and Panchayat Office, Baghapurana. He also interacted with prospective candidates.

People praised the Moga administration’s arrangements for issuing NOCs and filing nominations. People stated that they came to file nominations today, obtained NOCs, and then submitted their nominations.

The nomination filing process in Moga district concluded peacefully.

Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, Election Observer Muhammad Tayyab said that Moga district has 340 Sarpanches and 2486 Panches to be elected. Elaborate arrangements have been made.

Tayyab stated that the Election Commission has ensured all preparations for free, fair, and peaceful elections across the state.

He added that scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 5, 2024 (Saturday). The last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 7, 2024 (Monday) till 3:00 PM. Voting will take place on October 15, 2024 (Tuesday) from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM through ballot boxes. Counting of votes will be done on the same day at the polling stations after polling concludes.

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal briefed the Election Observer on the preparations, stating that the district administration is committed to conducting transparent, fear-free, and peaceful elections.

Out of Moga district’s 340 Gram Panchayats, 69 seats are reserved for SCs, 70 for SC women, 101 for general women, and 100 for general candidates.
