Administration receives 4625 entries for ‘Future Tycoons’ start-up challenge program

In massive response to ‘Future Tycoons’ start-up challenge program, the district administration has received 4625 entries for five categories. There have been 2809 registrations under the student/young entrepreneurship category (for students aged 10-25), 1339 registrations under the open category (for all Ludhiana residents), 391 under the women category (exclusively for female entrepreneurs), 31 entries under the PwD category (for persons with disabilities), and 55 entries under the sustainable agriculture/food technology category.

Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal presided over a meeting in the district administrative complex with various stakeholders and thanked the participants for the huge response to the program. He mentioned that due to Panchayats elections, the dates for various events of the program have been rescheduled. The scrutiny of the registrations will culminate on October 24, and a Boot Camp will be organized to prepare shortlisted participants on November 5 and 6. The jury round will be held on November 18 and 19, and the grand finale will be held later in the month.

Jorwal added that the cash prizes for winners in each category are as follows: ₹30,000 for first position, ₹20,000 for second, and ₹10,000 for third. An amount of ₹13.10 crore as seed capital/angel investments has already been pledged by key partners, CICU and Ludhiana Angel Network and Innovation Mission Punjab, ensuring that participants have access to essential funding.
The program was launched on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day and is in association with “Startup Punjab,” the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government agency for developing the startup ecosystem in the state.

Inauguration of four-days Advance Imaging Workshop on “Recent Advancements in Bioimaging” at NIPER Mohali Mohali, 18th August 2026: The Department of Medical Devices at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, inaugurated a four-days Advance Imaging Workshop on “Recent Advancements in Bioimaging” from 18th to 21st August 2026. The workshop focuses on recent developments in widefield and confocal microscopy, with technical sessions, demonstrations and hands-on training for participants. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dulal Panda, Director NIPER Mohali, at 09:30 AM in the presence of associate Dean, Registrar, faculty members, invited experts, and participants. During his welcome address, Prof. Dulal Panda, highlighted the evolution of microscopy, particularly the advancement of confocal microscopy into a powerful tool for modern biological and biomedical research. He also emphasized the transformative role of fluorescence microscopy and the discovery of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), noting how advances in imaging have enabled researchers to visualize cellular and molecular processes with greater clarity and precision. Following the Director’s address, Prof. Ipsita Roy, Associate Dean, NIPER Mohali, emphasized the importance of technological advancements and encouraged students to actively interact with experts and gain meaningful experience through hands-on learning. Workshop Organizer Dr. Ajay Kumar, along with Co-Organizers Prof. Tarun Sharma and Dr. Dipankar Das, Department of Medical Devices, encouraged the participants to ask challenging questions, explore new possibilities, and think beyond conventional approaches. The workshop features sessions covering the fundamentals and latest developments in widefield and confocal microscopy, along with system demonstrations and hands-on training in multidimensional imaging. The final two days are dedicated to individual laboratory sample acquisition and analysis using confocal microscopy, providing participants with an opportunity to apply the concepts and techniques learned during the workshop to their own research samples. The workshop aims to strengthen participants’ understanding of advanced bioimaging technologies and equip them with practical skills for applying these techniques in pharmaceutical, biomedical and life-science research.
