Punjab Human rights panel chief holds meeting with DC and police officials

Punjab State Human Rights Commission chairman justice Sant Prakash alongwith Shri KK Bansal Registrar and Shri D.D.Sharma, Special Secretary on Friday i.e.30.8.24 held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney and senior police officials to discuss  the genuine problems and grievances of senior citizens and inmates of central and women jails.

Upon arrival of the chairman in Ludhiana, deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney along with CJM Harinder Singh, ADC Major Amit Sareen, DCP Jaskiran Singh Teja, Civil Surgeon Dr Pardeep Mohindra, Women Jail Superintendent Vijay Kumar, Borstal Jail Superintendent Gurpreet Singh, Central Jail Superintendent Balvir Singh, DSSO Inderpreet Kaur and other senior officials welcomed him to the international circuit house.

The chairman stated efforts are being made by the state human rights commission to prevent the violation of human rights in any government or non-government organisation. He mentioned, “We should all be aware of human rights which our Constitution has given to every citizen of the country. He also gave necessary directions to the officials to improve services for the inmates.”

Later, the deputy commissioner assured the chairman that the administration will make prompt arrangements for ensuring regular medical examination of jail inmates. Besides, the administration will also solve their grievances.

Earlier, the Chairman also met the inmates in Central, Borstal and Women Jails and listened to their issues. He also visited various old-age homes and talked with senior citizens.
