Ludhiana ( Justice News)
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today while congratulating Punjabis for uniting as one to force Arvind Kejriwal and his gang to withdraw the land pooling scheme, said the party would come up with a people’s programme shortly to take the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government to task for failing to implement promises made to the people of the State.
Addressing a joint press conference here, senior SAD leaders including Hira Singh Gabria, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Ranjit Singh Dhillon and Harish Rai Dhanda also appreciated the leadership of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal for holding repeated ‘dharnas’ to create a tsunami against the AAP government. “Just like the Dharamyudh Morcha led by S Parkash Singh Badal, our party president not only opposed the acquisition of 65,000 acres of land but also exposed the scheme for the land grab it was. This spirited opposition under which four massive dharnas were held here as well as in Bathinda, Mohali and Patiala besides announcement of a Morcha from September 1, rattled the AAP government and forced it to eat humble pie”, the leaders asserted.
Urging people including Sabhas and Societies who had contributed to withdrawal of the land pooling scheme to remain united; Mr Gabria said “the SAD is soon going to launch a programme to agitate for realization of all promises made to the people by the AAP government. We are determined to make it a people’s movement just like the opposition to the land pooling scheme. We will take everyone with us”, he added.
Meanwhile when queried about the new Vakhra Chulha Dal which came into being yesterday, Mr Gabria said its president Giani Harpreet Singh had neither taken the central BJP led government to task for refusing to resolve the grievances of Punjabis nor castigated the AAP government for failing the people of the State. “This makes it clear that Giani Harpreet’s agenda is not to safeguard the interests of Punjab or its people. He only wants to take on the Shiromani Akali Dal and weaken it on behalf of the parties of Delhi”.
The leaders also made it clear that Punjab had witnessed the birth of many parties and that the new outfit of Giani Harpreet would be soundly rejected by the people. He also called upon the new outfit not to use the name of the SAD, stating it should try to go to the people on its own name and identity instead of confusing the people by taking the name of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
