Punjab BJP spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala has termed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann\u2019s allegations that his political opponents are conspiring to defame him on religious grounds in connection with the controversial video issue as an attempt to evade facts. He said that perhaps for the first time in Punjab\u2019s history, a Chief Minister has allegedly caused such serious damage to the dignity of his office through his conduct and actions.
\nProf. Khiala stated that even after being declared \u201cGuru-Drohi\u201d (betrayer of the Guru) and \u201cPanth-Virodhi\u201d (anti-Panth) by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Bhagwant Mann\u2019s continuation in office remains a matter of grave concern for Punjab\u2019s social, moral, and political life. Now that an FIR has reportedly been registered by the Gurugram Crime Branch regarding an alleged fake forensic report linked to the controversial video, and several serious facts are emerging, the Chief Minister no longer retains any moral authority to remain in office.<\/div>\n
\nHe said that those who repeatedly cited forensic reports in an attempt to suppress the truth are now avoiding public scrutiny. In particular, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders, who until recently projected these reports as conclusive proof, have now chosen silence.
\nProf. Khiala asserted that not only those who allegedly prepared the fake forensic report but also all individuals who presented it as authentic and used it to mislead government authorities and the public are legally accountable. He stated that the AAP delegation that met the Punjab DGP on the basis of the alleged forged forensic report and submitted such documents to a senior government official should face immediate criminal proceedings for allegedly submitting forged documents, misleading a public servant, and attempting to influence a legal process.
\nHe questioned why, if the Chief Minister was confident of his innocence, he did not seek examination by a recognized government forensic laboratory. Why, he asked, was there reliance on privately procured reports to shape public perception? These questions, he said, remain unanswered.<\/div>\n
\nProf. Khiala demanded a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation into the Gurugram case. He said it must be established who allegedly paid the reported \u20b910 lakh for preparation of the forensic report, from which account the money was transferred, and who all were involved in the entire exercise. He further stated that if any police officer or other official is found to have facilitated, commissioned, or relied upon such reports to achieve a predetermined outcome, strict legal action should be initiated against them as well.
\nHe said that this issue is not merely about a video or a report; it concerns the dignity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Sikh sentiments, and the credibility of democratic institutions. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party leadership has, from the very beginning, attempted to conceal the truth and mislead the public. If everything was legitimate, he asked, why was reliance placed on private reports instead of an official forensic investigation?
\nAccording to Prof. Khiala, the episode has exposed the reality behind AAP\u2019s much-publicized model of honesty, on the basis of which it sought votes from the people of Punjab. Citizens now want to know why established legal and institutional processes were allegedly bypassed if the facts were indeed on the government\u2019s side. The government\u2019s silence, he said, is raising further questions.<\/div>\n

\nHe further alleged that the entire episode reflects what he described as Arvind Kejriwal\u2019s anti-Sikh mindset, which Bhagwant Mann and his associates are allegedly defending. He claimed that the party\u2019s claims of integrity now stand exposed and that its leaders have lost credibility in the eyes of the public.
\nProf. Khiala concluded by saying that, in the interest of Punjab\u2019s people, the Sikh community, and democratic institutions, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should resign from his post and present his case before the people and Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He emphasized that bringing the truth to light and accepting accountability are the ultimate tests of democratic and public life. No individual, regardless of how high an office he occupies, can be above the law or beyond accountability in a democracy.
