Amritsar\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/Commissionerate Police Amritsar has successfully cracked an extortion and firing case involving a grocery shop owner on Fatehgarh Churian Road, Amritsar.<\/div>\n

\u2022 Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar reached the place of the encounter while giving information and said that on 08-12-2025, a masked assailant fired at the businessman and his son inside their shop with intent to kill. Fortunately, no one was injured. The assailant escaped on a motorcycle along with two accomplices towards the Preet Nagar side.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 In this regard, it was revealed that the complainant did not disclose details of the incident, as he was hesitant to come forward. The police, however, independently uncovered the facts of the case through their own investigation.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Regarding this, FIR No. 254 Dated 09-12-2025 U\/S 308(4), 109, 125, 351(2), 61(2), 3(5) BNS & 25, 27 Arms Act was registered at PS Sadar Amritsar, and a focused investigation was initiated.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Acting promptly on specific secret information, police apprehended all three accused Nirmaljot Singh, Manpreet Singh @ Mangu and Karandeep Singh along with the car.<\/div>\n

\u2022 Acting swiftly on disclosures during investigation, police arrested the main accused Nirmaljot Singh @ Jot, and took him for recovery of the pistol used in the firing incident near Verka\u2013Batala Bypass.<\/div>\n
\u2022 During the recovery process, the accused suddenly pushed a police guard, forcibly grabbed a police carbine, cocked it, and attempted to fire at police personnel with intent to kill. Due to the safety lock, the weapon did not fire.<\/div>\n
\u2022 Despite repeated attempts by police to overpower him, the accused continued trying to fire the weapon, but due to the safety lock, it did not fire. To protect themselves and their team, ASI Navtej Singh fired a warning shot in the air.<\/div>\n
\u2022\u00a0 As the accused persisted in his violent attempt, ASI Navtej Singh fired in self-defense. One round struck the accused on the lower part of his left leg, causing him to fall and drop the weapon. He was immediately shifted to Hospital for treatment.<\/div>\n

\u2022 In this regard, a separate FIR 113 Dated 17-12-2025 U\/S 109, 132, 221 BNS and 25, 27 Arms Act was registered at PS Verka, Amritsar.<\/div>\n
\u2022 During the course of investigation, it further came to light that accused Nirmaljot Singh @ Jot fired the shot during the incident, accused Manpreet Singh @ Mangu was riding the motorcycle, and accused Karandeep Singh had carried out reconnaissance of the complainant prior to the attack.<\/div>\n
\u2022 During further investigation, it emerged that the accused had committed the offence purely out of greed for money.<\/div>\n
