\u00a0The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar \u00a0proudly inaugurated its 17th Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab powered by (NM-ICPS), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India at Model Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jammu. The event marked a major step forward in the collaborative mission to expand access to advanced research and real-world applications of CPS technologies across academic institutions.<\/p>\n

The inauguration of the CPS Lab in Jammu, the parliamentary constituency of Dr. Jitendra Singh ji, Hon\u2019ble Union Minister of State, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, stands as a landmark achievement under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), Department of Science & Technology. It reinforces the Government\u2019s vision of positioning India at the forefront of CPS-led innovation, advanced research, and next-generation skill development.<\/p>\n

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET, emphasizing the importance of such strategic partnerships in empowering students and faculty with emerging technologies.<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Mukesh C. Kestwal, Chief Innovation Officer, IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation, as the Chief Guest in presence of Prof. Sahil Sawhney Dean Strategy & QA, MIET; Prof. Devanand Padha, Dean Academics Affairs, MIET; Dr. Surbhi Sharma, HOD, ECE, MIET. In his keynote address, Dr. Kestwal highlighted the importance of democratizing access to CPS technologies, promoting innovation-led growth, and advancing India\u2019s journey towards technological self-reliance.<\/p>\n

In addition to establishing CPS Labs, IIT Ropar has been actively nurturing startups from the Jammu & Kashmir region under its innovation and incubation initiatives. Notably, Wawe Waste to Wealth Private Limited, a J&K-based startup, was awarded by Dr. Jitendra Singh at the PRAGATI Founder Forum in New Delhi. Alongside, startups such as Techno Orchard LLP and Vertiwell Innovations Pvt. Ltd. are also part of the IIT Ropar ecosystem, contributing to the region\u2019s growth in science and technology entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

The \u00a0CPS Lab at MIET is equipped with advanced IoT kits developed by IIT Ropar, offering 24\/7 plug-and-play access for hands-on learning. Key resources include the Voltera V-One circuit prototyping machine, BLE development tools, low power camera modules, environmental sensors, and AI\/ML workstations provided by Terafac Technologies Pvt. Ltd., enabling practical exploration of cyber-physical systems and smart technologies.<\/p>\n

The ceremony culminated in the formal inauguration of the CPS Lab, followed by a guided tour and live demonstration showcasing its advanced capabilities. Designed to serve as a center for high-impact training, research, and innovation, the lab will benefit students, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals alike.
