Ludhiana\u00a0 \u00a0 (\u00a0 Brij Bhushan Goyal ) Discussing the split of Punjab\u2019s Budget allocation for higher education, alumni of SCD Govt. College Ludhiana strongly rued the neglect of States colleges as only meagre allocation of RUSA Funds of \u00a0199 crores and 160 crores of infra upgrade is provided for.<\/p>\n

\u201cPunjab Government\u2019s neglect of state government colleges in the budget shows that not all is well in the higher education department. Standalone degree and postgraduate college students must not be left rudderless when they are in and out of colleges. Every college must have provision for adequate financial and human resources to prepare our youth in the college itself for post career life. Funds must be provided for starting competition training along with studies in the college itself wherein successful retired alumni can also play a positive role.\u00a0 Budget is silent on the issue. There must be a proper accountability system with the department to ensure that teachers are committed to academics and they hook the students likewise so that precious years are not wasted. These views are expressed by Brij Bhushan Goyal.<\/p>\n

\nProf P K Sharma (Retd.) says that both the Government and Private Colleges of Punjab are \u00a0really in bad shape. The migration to foreign soil nourishing dreams of greener pastures will not stop if Punjab is \u00a0not rising above partisan and petty politics and politicians do not discuss seriously to improve the higher education standards linking it with the brightening of bread and butter factor in the state itself.
\nProf. Dr Navtej Singh ( Retd),a historian strongly feels \u00a0that the research atmosphere in our colleges and universities have taken a back seat as there are no adequate funds and transparency in posting of scholars and teachers on key positions as favouritism \u00a0is rampant. He was sad at such a state of affairs.<\/div>\n
\nAnother Alumnus Parminder Singh speaking Vancouver said that we \u00a0need to study the spread and \u00a0type of education which is \u00a0more important to make the youth job worthy .<\/div>\n
\nK B Singh, a former PU Gold Medallist in economics 1980 early said that budget does not seem to have provided any funds in skilling in certain important trades along with studies in the degree college students.<\/div>\n
