\nDeputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Thursday said that the district administration has been ensuring smooth and hassle free\u00a0procurement\u00a0and lifting of the\u00a0paddy.<\/p>\n
Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the\u00a0procurement\u00a0and lifting of the grains in the grain markets across the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the district administration was firmly committed for completing the\u00a0procurement\u00a0and lifting without any inconvenience to the farmers. He said that elaborate arrangements were made by the administration to facilitate the farmers.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Commissioner categorically told \u00a0about 18 lakh metric tons of\u00a0paddy\u00a0was expected in the grain markets of the district during this\u00a0procurement\u00a0season. He said that since the start of\u00a0procurement\u00a0of grains in the district, 14.10 lakh metric ton\u00a0paddy\u00a0had arrived into the grain markets out of which 97.71 percent had been\u00a0procured\u00a0by various agencies till November 13. He said that out of payments worth Rs 3041.70 crores had been paid to the farmers for their produce.<\/p>\n
Prominent among the present on the occasion included ADC Amarjit Bains, Assistant Commissioner Kritika Goyal, DFSCs Geeta Bishambu, Shivali Chopra and heads of various agencies and Mandi Board were also present.<\/p>\n
